Introduction to John's
Revelation
This book, as it clearly
states, is the revelation of Jesus Christ,
but it is the revelation of Himself to the
Jews! The church, or us "gentiles," have
all ready received this full revelation of
Jesus Christ!
When Christ came 2000 years
ago, this was his primary intention. He knew
full well that he would be rejected by the
Jews, as a nation, both spiritually and/ politically.
True, there were untold countless thousands
of Jews who accepted Jesus Christ as their
Messiah, but the nation, as a whole,
rejected the "Son of Man" choosing to stay
tied to the "Old Covent" and the law of
Moses.
In his prophecy in the Old
testament, Daniel plainly states, that
at the end of his "70 weeks" the "Messiah would
be anointed the most holy."
While at His first coming, the believing
Jews and subsequently the believing
Gentiles; aka, the church, DID ACCEPT JESUS
as the "most holy," nevertheless THE NATION OF ISRAEL
DID NOT!!! To more fully
understand this whole "Jewish rejection"
attitude, one needs to comprehend two
statements. the first was made by Jesus
Christ Himself, "Those
by the way side are they that hear; then
cometh the devil, and taketh away the word
out of their hearts, lest they should
believe and be saved."
(Luke 8:12,KJV)Here Christ was referring to
the /Jews who did not accept him.
them later in Romans, Paul says, "
For I would not,
brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this
mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own
conceits; that blindness in part is happened
to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles
be come in." (Romans 11:25, KJV)
Therefore, the purpose of the book of Revelation is two fold:
on the one hand, it is to the Church,
as a warning of attitudes, but more
importantly, it is for the nation of Israel,
revealing to them their Messiah who they had
previously rejected who now they accept!!!
It is also an explanation to the rest of the
world just how this "life" ends: and
"eternity" begins. |
